Pre-1870's African American heirloom variety originating in the African-American communities around Baltimore and Philadelphia and used to season local fish and shellfish. Hot Fish plants have strikingly beautiful green and white variegated foliage growing to a height of 60cm with pendant fruits which grow to 60mm long by 15mm wide. When the fruits ripen, they change in colour from cream with green stripes to orange with red stripes, and then eventually to an all red chilli.
